I am an employer. I want to know more about this programme.

Email our CEO, Dan Sofer, at dan@foundersandcoders.com for more information.

Who's this programme designed for?

This programme is principally aimed at experienced software engineers. Participants need to be in employment and their employer needs to be onboard with the process.

Is there a remote version?

Please let us know you are interested in the remote version by stating your preference when starting your application.

Who pays for this programme?

This programme is funded by the Apprenticeship Levy. If your company is a levy payer, it comes straight out of levy funds. If your employer is not a levy payer, the training is heavily government subsidised, in which case the total cost to the employer for the whole year would be £1,100 (if this is too much for your company, we can reduce the cost to zero with a levy transfer).

Can I work from the City Road campus on the morning of the training day?

Yes. Co-working is available at Dingley Place at no charge on the day of the workshop.

Do participants need to be in employment to do this programme?

Yes. Participants in this programme need to be sponsored by their current employer.

Is there any upper limit on the number of staff who can participate in this programme?

There is no limit on enrolment. You can send as many of your team as would like to join us.

I am the the only employee of my company, can I do this apprenticeship?

No. Funding rules require a separate line manager, which a one-person company cannot provide.

Why is this a 12-month programme?

It is a constraint of government funding that the minimum length of an apprenticeship training is 12 months. But just as important, the changes now underway in the practice of software engineering is a continuous process. We plan to build a community of practice over the length of the training that participants will benefit from long after it is over.

What is the benefit of this being an apprenticeship?

It means that this programme can be funded out of the apprenticeship levy and that participants will gain a recognised vocational qualification at degree level (Level 6) at the end of the programme.

What are the requirements of the apprenticeship?

As well as studying for a minimum of 12 months, participants need to complete an oral exam and a project report and viva. For more information, see the machine learning engineer apprenticeship standard.
